Momentum International XCO #1 at Giba Gorge
What a weekend of racing!!!!
On Saturday was the U23, elite and junior women and men, where U23 and elite were put into one category (Pro-elite). Which made it more exciting giving us a bigger field to fight it out on the race course and to see where we compared to the others.
We were off!!! In the drizzling rain ready to take on the muddy course that lay ahead of us. I had a very good start managing to get in the front with my team mate Candice Neethling and was third into the single track. Legs were feeling good a lot better than last weekend, I was ready to give it my all today!
Half way through the race with 3 laps down and 3 laps to go, I was lying 6th overall and had now found my rhythm making sure I was constant in each lap. It was a fantastic course put together by Nick Floros testing each rider physical and mentally.
A big thank you goes to Max Cluer for his support on mic, making it possible to get up this little pain burst climb on each lap. The support from everyone was tremendous it truly makes a difference when you hear your name, making you push even harder.
Awesome podium in the Pro-Elite women category with 3 BMC riders in the mix (me finishing 6th, Candice Neethling finishing 2nd and Simone Vosloo finishing 9th) and of course Ester Erdelyi riding for Ellsworth finishing 4th. Well done girls was a great race!!!
Sunday was another fantastic day of racing with all the other age category’s having their turn. Weather turned out great with the sun out and drying up some of the course. I went to Giba to support the rest of the riders out during the day and ended being on the mic with Max. Which was even better making my voice being heard everywhere in the technical zones, I truly had an absolute ball.
Thanx everyone for putting on such a great weekend, it was a blast. Thanx KZN MTB for putting on a top quality event.
This weekend coming up will be the MTN Sabie marathon, come and support if you around!
Xxx
